If you cannot open a file:

When clicking on a link, what is supposed to happen is that the file either opens, or downloads. If it downloads, you will see a download box with the file name at the top. Then click on it in there, or in your /Downloads folder.

A lot may depend on your computer setup and available software. If you can’t open a .doc or .docx file for example, it means you don’t have Microsoft Word or a modern version. You can download a free version of Libre Office which can open these files.
